MHI Vestas opens new Power Converter Modules Factory at Port of Esbjerg

MHI Vestas Offshore Wind has opened its latest manufacturing facility in Denmark as it continues to ramp up production capacity to meet strong demand for its V164 turbine platform.

Chief Manufacturing Officer, Robert Borin, said, “MHI Vestas is proud to be a major contributor to the development of pre-assembly skillsets and the establishment of competence centres throughout regional Denmark. It’s exciting to see the new facility up and running at the Port of Esbjerg as the next manufacturing phase of the company takes shape.”

The hi-tech facility is a dedicated space for the company’s PCM assembly, located close to pre-assembly, and will enable the company to draw upon the Port of Esbjerg’s expertise as the leading wind power port in Europe.

The announcement is the latest in a series of manufacturing expansion plans from MHI Vestas, as the company increased production capacity on the Isle of Wight in the UK last fall, and in Nakskov and Lindø earlier this year.
