BWSC along with MDT contracted to build a 120 MW power plant in Benin

Danish power plant specialist Burmeister & Wain Scandinavian Contractor A/S (BWSC) in consortium with MAN Diesel and Turbo (MDT) has secured a EUR 125 million contract to build a 120 MW power plant in Benin. This claimed to be the second contract which once comes to effect might vouch for its efficiency.

The project is a complete turnkey power plant project, which entails construction of a whole new power house for seven MDT dual fuel engines and all corresponding infrastructure. It is to be delivered within 18 months from effective contract. The plant is claimed to suffice for electricity needs for 300,000 European households thereby affirming the government’s mission to enable sustainable development in Benin. The project meets the demands of Benin’s rapidly surging energy market pegged at 6% per annum consequently   enhancing the much needed electricity supply to power business growth and enhance living standards in the peri-urban areas surrounding Cotonou.
