Siemens to build Cogeneration plant in Berlin with Electrical capacity 260 MW

Siemens announced that it has received an order to build a new cogeneration plant in Berlin with an electrical capacity of 260 MW and a thermal capacity of 230 MW.

Siemens will act as general contractor for Vattenfall Europe Wärme AG to erect the natural-gas fired combined-cycle power plant with district heat extraction. The centerpiece of the plant will be its gas turbine, which will be manufactured at Siemens’ gas turbine plant in Berlin’s Moabit district.

Siemens’ scope of supply includes. the gas turbine, steam turbine and two electrical generators, all to be fabricated at Siemens manufacturing plants in Berlin, Görlitz and Erfurt, Germany. Siemens will likewise supply the heat recovery steam generator. The unit is to be erected in a multi-shaft configuration, and will achieve a fuel efficiency rating of approximately 90 percent. Plant is scheduled to begin operation in 2020
