NTE Carolinas: MHPSA Natural gas CT turbine arrives KMEC Site

NTE Carolinas announced the delivery of MHPSA Natural gas CT (Mitsubishi’s GAC combustion turbine) to the Kings Mountain Energy Center (KMEC) site, in Cleveland County, NC. The natural gas-fired combustion turbine was placed on its foundation on April 11, 2017, . Gemma Power Systems, LLC is the Engineering, Procurement and Construction contractor for the project.

CEO of NTE Energy, Seth Shortlidge said that the arrival of Mitsubishi’s combustion turbine represents an exciting milestone for NTE in bringing sustainable and economic power to the region. The construction of the Kings Mountain Energy Center is progressing rapidly, with many more milestones to follow.

Construction KMEC began in March 2016, and is currently approximately 40% complete and on schedule to begin commercial operations in the summer of 2018. Once operational, NTE’s KMEC will provide reliable and economically competitive wholesale power to nine municipal and state owned utilities in North Carolina and South Carolina, under individual Long – Term Power Sale Agreements.
