Global Wind Service installs 32 Siemens turbines in 13 weeks

The last Global Wind Service (GWS) technicians are getting out of their work clothes while enjoying a successful installation of 32 Siemens 3.2-130DD turbines in southern Australia. Construction started on 1 December 2016 and GWS completed the installation of phase II at Hornsdale Wind Farm in just 13 weeks – despite a hot South Australian summer period. Together with Siemens site management, our experienced GWS technicians have performed well and we have been awarded with phase III as a direct result of our successful cooperation, starting 15 May 2017. Phase III will consist of 35 x Siemens 3.2-130DD turbines.

“By being awarded phase III in the Hornsdale Wind Farm, GWS has once again demonstrated our willingness and ability to develop our competencies, providing the right teams and keeping pace with the needs of our customer in a rapidly evolving industry,” said Lars Petersen, CEO of GWS.

Neoen partnered with Siemens Wind Power Pty Ltd Australia to further its goals for renewable energy alternatives. Hornsdale Wind Farm will generate approximately 1,050,000 megawatt hours of clean, renewable electricity into Australia’s national power grid each year, powering 180,000 homes. This will be the equivalent of taking either 290,000 cars off the road or planting 1,900,000 trees.
